–Danny's battle cry to transform into his ghostly form, which further strengthens his ever developing, various ghost abilities somewhat. |
Daniel[11] "Danny" Fenton, also known by his superhero codename Danny Phantom, is the titular protagonist of the television series Danny Phantom. Originally an unpopular high school student facing ordinary teenage problems, Danny becomes a half-human/half-ghost hybrid during a lab accident via stepping into and activating his parents' Ghost Portal. Since then, Danny has taken on the role of a ghostly superhero to protect Amity Park and the world from the dangerous ghosts that escape the Ghost Zone while ensuring his alter ego "Danny Phantom" remains secret from all save his best friends, Tucker and Samantha, and his older sister Jazz.
History[]
The Origin[]
Living with ghost-obsessed parents since birth, Danny had to put up with his parents' "unique" personalities, which often traumatized him. Danny wanted to be an astronaut when he grew up and, unlike his parents, had no interest in hunting ghosts. However, this did not stop his curiosity that one day changed his life forever. As revealed via flashback in the episode "Memory Blank", while exploring his parents' laboratory with his two best friends Sam Manson and Tucker Foley, Danny (at Sam's suggestion to check it out) accidentally activated the newly-built Fenton Ghost Portal from the inside, causing his DNA to become infused with ectoplasm and turning Danny into a human/ghost hybrid with an array of ghostly superpowers.
Beginning[]
Danny had only had his powers for a month before his first real ghost fight. He was unsure about telling his parents about the accident and was still trying to get the hang of his powers, often losing control of them at inopportune and embarrassing moments. But after his first battle against a ghost, he realized what his powers were for. Since the ghosts were a serious threat, Danny decided to take on the role of a superhero to protect Amity Park.[12]
Danny soon met Vlad Masters, his parents' friend from college, now a billionaire bachelor. Danny found out that twenty years ago, Vlad became a half-ghost just like Danny, and now had all the same powers Danny had and more, but with twenty years more experience. Vlad soon became Danny's arch-nemesis.
Becoming a Hero[]
At first, Danny Phantom was not a particularly well-known or well-liked ghost. His debut to Amity Park was ruined when Walker staged a ghost invasion of the city and framed Danny Phantom for it[13] (then known to the city as "Invis-o-Bill") and later when Freakshow took control of Danny's mind and forced him to perpetrate a series of ghostly crimes for him.[1] Events such as these caused the people of Amity Park to hate Danny Phantom, despite his intentions to protect them. Danny's only supporters were his two best friends Tucker and Sam and unbeknownst to him, his sister Jazz.
In "Reign Storm", after Danny defeated the Ghost King Pariah Dark and saved Amity Park from being trapped in the Ghost Zone, Amity Park finally recognized him as a hero (and recognized his real name). This also helped his standing in the Ghost Zone, as the Far Frozen began to know him as "the Great One" and "Savior of the Ghost Zone" due to his victory over the Ghost King. However, his parents and his then-love interest Valerie, the three people he most wanted to believe in him, still didn't view Danny Phantom as anything but a menace.
Alternate Paths[]
In "The Ultimate Enemy", Danny witnessed an alternate future where he gave up his human half after an accident killed his friends and family, causing him to become fully ghost and much more powerful, but ultimately extremely evil. His own future self turned out to be his ultimate enemy.
New Allies and Old Friends[]
Throughout his adventures, Danny made a number of allies, including his half-ghost female clone and cousin, Dani Phantom, a Yeti-like ghost named Frostbite, the Master of Time by the name of Clockwork, a werewolf ghost named Wulf and Pandora, the owner of Pandora's Box.
A Bright Future[]
In "Phantom Planet", Vlad created a new team of teenage ghost hunters, the Masters' Blasters, to upstage Danny. They were inexplicably able to hunt ghosts much better than Danny could, embarrassing and humiliating Danny. He began to have deep doubts about whether he really was the superhero the people wanted. He was so depressed that, despite his friends' protests, he used the Fenton Portal to remove all his ghost powers, becoming fully human again, save for a small white streak in his hair. At the same time, however, a much bigger threat - the Disasteroid - was headed straight for Earth, timed to collide in just one week and destroy the entire planet; and because Earth and the Ghost Zone are flip sides of each other, if Earth were to be destroyed, the Ghost Zone would be destroyed as well.
With renewed determination, Danny returned to the Ghost Zone to seek help. His enemies in the Ghost Zone, however, were all too glad to see him in his powerless human state and took great pleasure in blasting him all together, but this action manages to recharge the streak in his hair, in actuality, a remnant of Danny's ectoplasmic powers stored in his DNA, transforming him back into Danny Phantom. Gaining help from his allies and enemies from the Ghost Zone, humans and ghosts worked side-by-side and successfully saved the Earth from the Disasteroid. When the crisis was finally over, Danny revealed his secret identity to all of Earth and was hailed as Earth's hero.
Appearance[]
- Main article: Danny Phantom (character)/Gallery/Clothes
Danny Fenton has fair skin, black hair and blue eyes. He wears a white T-shirt with a thin red collar, red cuffs, and a red oval in the middle, light blue jeans and red-and-white sneakers. When he becomes furious, his eyes sometimes flash bright green even while in human form.
When he transforms into Danny Phantom, his hair becomes snow white, his eyes become glowing green, his skin becomes cast in shadow and a faint white glow surrounds his whole body. In this form, he wears a black jumpsuit with white boots, collar, belt and gloves. After "Memory Blank", he wears his logo, a white "D" with three ghost trails on its stem and the negative space inside it forming a "P," on his chest. His voice becomes slightly but noticeably resonant as well.
Personality[]
Initially, Danny was awkward and nervous yet friendly. Like most teenagers, he desires to be popular, has a dislike of bullies and embarrassment from his parents. But unlike most teenagers, he had super-powers. He struggled to cope with them and was afraid of anyone discovering his secret, fearing it would make him "go from geek to freak" and longed to be normal just like everyone else again. But after fighting ghosts for the first time, he realized he could use his powers for good. This newfound sense of purpose changed Danny into a heroic, brave young man.
In the present, when he is not worrying about ghosts, Danny is kind, easy-going, helpful, and compassionate at times. He likes using his ghost powers for good, but, being a teenage boy, is not always above using them to get revenge on bullies or sneak out of school detention. His ghost hunting often cuts into his schoolwork time, but he does work hard when he puts his mind on the task at hand--except when he's lazy or distracted. Although he isn't the smartest person around, but he is clever at devising plans, having good ideas and using resources, like his powers, Fenton equipment, and friends with different talents. He almost rarely gets extremely mad or emotional, only taking important matters personally like his archenemies Vlad and Dark Danny. He loves making puns and exchanging witty banter during his fights, and while there are moments when he under-appreciates his friends, he's thankful to have them.
Danny has also shown distress when it comes to failure in himself to protect others. Examples of this include the deaths of his family and friends inadvertently causing him to turn evil, the moment when he believed that he had failed to protect Dani from Vlad, and the brief time when he gave up his powers after Masters' Blasters upstaged and humiliated him into thinking himself obsolete and useless.
Despite all this, as a young teenager, he occasionally displays selfish, lazy, immature, and moody traits on occasion. In “Attack of the Killer Garage Sale” he ditches his friends to go to a party with the popular kids. In “Livin' Large” he lets his wealth get to his head to the point of ditching school to play video games and even replaces his friends with robot replicas. Early in the first season he had an immature envy towards Jazz and was always rude to her (School Spirit). He was very moody in “The Fright Before Christmas” due to his hatred of the holiday and expressed delight over (accidentally) destroying the Ghost Writer's recently finished Christmas story. He also displayed slightly chauvinistic traits such as thinking girls can’t keep secrets (Lucky in Love), took advantage of his position as judge of a Beauty Pageant (Beauty Marked) and initially thought Sam couldn’t/didn’t play video games due to being a girl (Teacher of the Year). It was also revealed in “Memory Blank” that he used his powers to sneak into the girls' locker room at least twice. However, in most of these instances he learns from his mistakes and matures.
He is often described as “clueless” for being oblivious to Sam’s feelings for him. In the first season, at least, Danny had a nervousness towards pretty girls, accidentally phasing his own pants off when trying to talk to Paulina. At the same time he can be weak towards overly clingy or intrusive women. He begged Johnny to take back Kitty in “Lucky in Love” after finding her suffocating and even tried to hide from her once. He also tried hiding from his sister Jazz when she went overboard in trying to help him catch ghosts and accidentally sucked him into a thermos a few times.
Ultimately, Danny shows the traits of being a true friend. In the episode "Control Freaks," Danny is put under the control of Freakshow. While on the moving train, Sam tells Danny that his choices are either for his friends or for Freakshow. When she falls over the edge of the train into a ravine, Danny remembers Sam is his real friend. And, despite being mind controlled, chooses to save his real friend and destroys the crystal ball.
Relationships[]
Sam Manson[]
Sam has been one of Danny's best friends ever since the second grade and was one of the first two people Danny trusted with his secret. Danny's friendship with Sam isn’t always as strong as his friendship with Tucker due to their mutual stubbornness, but he values her friendship just as much as he values Tucker's. Their relationship was built over years and eventually turned into romance by the end of the season.
Sam always had a secret crush on Danny, but at first, Danny only showed romantic feelings towards Paulina, making Sam extremely jealous.[14] However, by "Phantom Planet", Danny rejected Paulina and confessed his feelings for Sam, the two of them become an official couple. According to the creator Butch Hartman, Danny and Sam eventually get married and have kids named Jackson Fenton and Misty Fenton who also inherited his ghost powers.
Tucker Foley[]
Tucker is Danny's best friend and one of the first two people Danny trusted with his secret. Danny often takes Tucker's side when Tucker and Sam disagree, and rarely disagrees with Tucker. Tucker is the technology expert of the three, so Danny and Sam often rely on his expertise to help them hunt ghosts. The two get along very well, partly because they are both boys, but also because of their similar interests.
Jazz Fenton[]
When Danny was younger, he and his big sister Jazz were quite close, but as they grew older, they became more at odds with each other. Jazz's behavior is intelligent in a sometimes-snobbish manner, which annoys Danny despite Jazz's concern for her little brother. In "My Brother's Keeper", Jazz learned Danny's secret and, unbeknownst to Danny, helped cover for him when he needed to go ghost. She planned not to tell Danny until Danny was ready to tell her, which occurred in "The Ultimate Enemy". The two have since formed a much tighter bond. Despite having a more strained and distant relationship at the beginning of the series, the two clearly still love each other. Jazz always looks after Danny, and he refuses to let Jazz down and promises to always keep her safe.
Jack and Maddie Fenton[]
Danny sometimes feels at odds with his parents, especially due to their desire to hunt ghosts. At an earlier age, Danny connected greatly with his mother, but they grew apart over time. While it seems, he doesn't always feel safe with his parents (as they have on multiple occasions expressed intention to tear Danny Phantom apart molecule by molecule), he shows love and concern for them as much as they do in return. On both occasions where Danny's parents found out that he's Danny Phantom, they instantly accepted him for it.
Paulina[]
At the beginning of the series, Danny had a massive crush on Paulina, even going so far as to set his computer password to "Paulina Fenton". Danny was too awkward and shy to ask her out, and the one time he worked up enough courage, his intangibility activated and caused his pants to fall down, embarrassing Danny in front of everyone and discouraging him from talking to her again. After he, as Danny Phantom (then still known by the public as "Inviso-Bill"), saved her life, Paulina developed a huge crush on Danny Phantom; but she continued to completely ignore and reject Danny Fenton, frustrating Danny to no end. Paulina once kissed Danny after his secret was exposed and she helped him for keeping the people safe but went back to her usual behavior after he erased her memory.
But as the series progressed, Danny started to get over his crush on Paulina, being replaced; by Valerie and eventually Sam. By the end of the series, his secret is once again exposed; but she keeps her memory.
Valerie Gray[]
When Danny and Valerie had first met, his opinion of her was anything but kind, as he wasn't a fan of her egotistical and angry attitude, nor of the fact that; she wanted to hunt his ghost-self down.[15][16] But as Danny Phantom and Valerie were often forced to work together against their mutual foes, Danny began to see things from Valerie's perspective and gradually warmed up to her, even going so far as to briefly express romantic feelings toward her. In "Phantom Planet", Valerie was among the crowd cheering for Danny; after he revealed his identity to the world.
Mr. Lancer[]
Mr. Lancer was Danny's least favorite teacher, as Mr. Lancer often favored the popular kids and gave him and his friends detention and bad grades. However, Danny and Mr. Lancer have warmed up to each other and Mr. Lancer now acts as a mentor who has Danny's feelings at heart and Danny Phantom still protects Mr. Lancer from ghosts and injury, even if he does let a few things slip sometimes as payback.
Dash Baxter[]
Dash openly despises Danny Fenton as he treats him cruelly and takes any chance he can to humiliate him. For unknown reasons, his bullying of Fenton originally started at the start of the series.
Star[]
Although he and Star don’t know each other well, she mostly looks down on him, as seen in the TV-series. But she likes him more than other 'uncool' unpopular kids in the TV-series, as seen in "Beauty Marked", due to being the judge of the beauty pageant, looks more down on them like Sam and Tucker. In some of the games, she even challenges him to bully Sam and Tucker (because she thinks that is cool), something he doesn’t like to, then secretly turns against her for that.
Vlad Masters[]
At first, Vlad was Danny's enemy only because he was jealous of Danny's father Jack, whom he felt had stolen Maddie from him in college. Vlad wanted to take Maddie back, and even went so far as to offer to bring up Danny as his own son and train him in using his ghost powers (since Vlad Masters is also half ghost noticeably his transformation rings are black).[17] However, by "Eye for an Eye", Danny and Vlad had become more antagonistic toward each other, with Vlad's motive inexplicably changing from wanting revenge on Jack to wanting to rule the world and destroy Danny.
It's only in the alternate future explored in "The Ultimate Enemy" does Danny treat Vlad as anything other than an arch-nemesis. Danny states that everyone might just need a second chance to make things right, and gives Vlad the chance to redeem himself.
Dani Fenton/Dani Phantom[]
Danny and Dani were on opposing sides until Dani realized that her creator, Vlad, was only using her, at which point she defected and became an ally of Danny. Despite only knowing each other for a short time, they developed a close sibling-like bond, always trusting and protecting each other.
She later reappeared seeking a cure for her instability, which Danny immediately decided to help with. Danny saved her from Vlad with help from Valerie Gray and they were able to find the cure with Dani beating Vlad after she was saved. With her now safe, Danny angrily threatened Vlad to never interfere with Dani's life again, showing a protective and responsible side similar to Jazz's interactions with Danny. Afterwards, Dani thanked Danny for his help and they shared a hug until Dani parts ways with him again, intending to do her own good in the world.
Dani later helped Danny and the others ghosts by turning the Earth intangible to save it from the Disasteroid. Butch Hartman later revealed, that sometime after this, Dani ended up being adopted into the Fenton family, officially making them brother and sister. This implies that the two have developed an even closer and loving bond.
Dark Danny[]
Dark Danny (aka Dan Phantom) is an amalgam of Danny's and Vlad's ghost-forms from an alternate timeline, and the biggest threat and evilest foe Danny has ever faced. Danny is at odds with his other enemies, including the Fright Knight or Pariah Dark even his archenemy Vlad, but Dark Danny is a whole other story with his evil future self being his most feared enemy. Even after his defeat Dark Danny is still notorious for being the most evil, sadistic, destructive, intelligent, and dangerous foe Danny has ever faced (more than Vlad Plasmius, Fright Knight, and Pariah Dark).
Dark Danny is a very powerful and dangerous ghost. Dark Danny was disgusted towards the person he once was, viewing his younger self as pathetically weak and only forcing himself to keep his younger self alive to ensure his own existence. Not too surprisingly, Danny was disgusted by his counterpart's evil deeds and wanted to defeat him. Danny surprised his counterpart by using the Ghostly Wail against him before locking him away in the Fenton Thermos, which now resides within Clockwork's domain.
Due to this, the events that led Danny to become him were averted. However, because of this, Dark Danny now exists outside of time and no longer requires his younger counterpart to survive in order to continue his own existence. Danny and Dark Danny have not encountered each other since Dark Danny's imprisonment in Clockwork's lair.
Danny's battle with his future-self had a profound impact on him. After Danny learned from the future Vlad of how his own selfishness and misuse of his powers caused Dan's creation and the horrible future he created, Danny swore to use them more responsibly. It also made him a bit more wary of his powers and possess a secret fear of them one day harming his loved ones, as seen during the series finale. Thus Danny strives to never become like the evil he was originally meant to be.
Skulker[]
The hunter ghost Skulker has proven to be Danny's most persistent enemy. Skulker has often tried to hunt and capture Danny due to Danny's unique status as a half-ghost. Despite this, Skulker is usually the first ghost Danny seeks aid from if he needs allies in the Ghost Zone. The ghost hunter is usually reluctant, but ultimately accepting towards such temporary alliances (if only due to the serious consequences that could occur if he declined).
Powers and Abilities[]
Human-Ghost Physiology: Danny possesses a variety of supernatural powers and abilities due to his unique physiology. The powers and abilities that Danny and his future self possess; although the former has comparatively lower intensity of these powers due to being young. However, as the series progresses, Danny becomes more powerful and stronger even gaining several powers his archenemy Vlad never got such as the Ghostly Wail and Cryokinesis which are shown to be very effective against Vlad. Some of his strengths (augmented by his ghost powers) are given below:
- Superhuman Strength: Danny possesses superhuman strength in his ghost form, although it is somewhat significantly lower as compared to Vlad (whose assumed strength level is between 40-50 tons) or his evil future self. In ghost form, he is strong enough to carry both Sam and Tucker with relative ease and hurl large objects at enemies easily. He is also strong enough to rip through reinforced titanium and can easily lift and throw hordes of enemy ghosts. In "Secret Weapons" he managed to intercept a punch from Jazz while she was using the Ecto-Skeleton (which amplifies the strength of the user 100 times). In addition, gravity does not affect Danny's ghost body, so he can lift heavy objects with ease.[18] Danny has been shown to be able to lift a school bus (which weighs 12-15 tons) with ease. He has also displayed enough strength to punch a giant ghost dragon across an area as well as knock it down and hurl it in mid air (although the latter required effort).
- Superhuman Durability: Danny is more resistant to injuries or damage than an ordinary human or ghost. He can withstand a variety of great impacts without taking much damage, such energy blasts, oil truck explosions, and multi-story buildings crumbling down or being hurled by enemies, although sometimes he gets slightly bruised as a result of the impact. While human, Danny can withstand many hits and blows that would cause injury to any normal teenager. In his ghost form, his body is incredibly resistant to damage and has demonstrated a high threshold for pain. With the Ecto-Skeleton, Danny could withstand hits from Pariah Dark, and even a massive pile-on of ghosts.
- Superhuman Agility: In his ghost form, Danny's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels beyond those of a normal human being. He can effectively dodge attacks, swing from things easily, and perform acrobatic feats such as backflips. Danny is far more agile, due to his young age and somewhat short stature. He is able to stretch freely to dodge various projectiles such as swing blades, bullets or arrows.
- Superhuman Flexibility: Danny's flexibility is pushed beyond the natural level, making him far more flexible than humans. Due to his ability to manipulate his body he is able to bend and twist his far beyond the normal limits of human physiology.
- Superhuman Speed: According to Tucker Foley in "Maternal Instinct", Danny can fly at 112 miles per hour. By "Phantom Planet", he is able to fly even faster, as evidenced by the speed at which he circles the world.
- Superhuman Reflexes: In ghost form, Danny has dramatically enhanced reflexes, being able to dodge attacks with ease. One of his best displays of reflexes and agility is when he dodges the pendulums traps inside Pariah Dark castle, in the episode Fright Night. In "Beauty Marked", he was able to catch an arrow shot at him with his bare hands.
- Superhuman Stamina: While human, Danny has the same level of stamina as a normal teenager, but in ghost form, he can exert himself at peak capacity for hours before fatigue begins to impair him. In "Reality Trip", he was able to keep the Fenton Jet invisible for an entire night.
- Superhuman Endurance: Like all ghosts and half-ghost, Danny can endure attacks and pain far beyond what humans can handle. In Flirting with Disaster, Danny was shown to endure being shot by Valerie in her new suit and still use his Ghost Stinger.
- Superhuman Equilibrium: Probably due to his flight and agility, he has the ability to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in any position imaginable. He seemed able to adjust his position almost by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on a scythe, balanced on a rope at great high, and perfectly walk on a wall like if it's the floor. He was also able to use this to balance himself and a bus that he was carrying from behind.
- Superhuman Healing: In ghost form, Danny is capable of healing at much greater speeds than that of an ordinary human, likely due to his body's ecto-biological structure. He has proven capable of healing from slashes and puncture wounds within a short amount of time, and even his suit appears to regenerate sometimes. Although when he gets injured, Ectoplasm oozes out instead of blood which aids in his healing. In his human form, his healing rate is also enhanced, even though it is weaker than in his ghost form. The limits of his regeneration is unknown, so it unknown if he can regrow missing limbs.
- Reconstitution (briefly): In one instance, he completely reconstructed his body after Freakshow reduced him to a puddle of goo. Danny uses this power after Freakshow turned him into jelly and he was smashed apart by a rollercoaster cart. Possibly an aspect of his spectral body manipulation ability, he may be able to reform if similarly damaged in ghost form or could have also just been caused by Freakshow so that he could torture Danny more.
- Paranormal Immunity: As a half-ghost, Danny's unique physiology makes him have a higher or totally immune/resistance to many/several types of supernatural attacks/effects from ghost powers that affect humans, such as Ember's music and Spectra's ghost illness, due to his powers, but if the power/attack is enhanced, this ability is rendered useless. Examples of powers affecting him are Desiree's reality warping abilities, Ember's amplified powers, and presumably Kitty's banishing kiss, thus rendering this ability useless. Examples of this ability that rendered him immune were when Ember's hypnotic music/love spell could not affect him until she got more powerful in "Fanning the Flames", he was immune to Spectra's ghost illness in "Doctor's Disorders", and even Medusa's stone stare as he directly looks at Medusa and didn't instantly turn to stone in "Boxed Up Fury". In "Frightmare", Danny was put to sleep by Nocturn, but he was able to wake up on his own without the need to be overshadowed. He may also be immune to some earth diseases except for the common cold.
Ghost Powers[]
- Going Ghost: Danny can transform between human and ghost at will. This manifests as white rings (transformation rings) extending from Danny's waist, then sweeping across his body. His battle cry, "I'm going ghost!" or a variant thereof, often accompanies his transformation (sometimes he transforms without saying it). Once transformed, he can use all his ghost powers. He can switch back to human form at will, and can still access some of his powers like weak ghost rays and intangibility in human form.
- Eye/Semi-Transformation (Ghost Form's Eyes in Human Form): Danny has occasionally, when feeling greatly angered or annoyed, making his blue eyes glow green in human form (most likely against his will although he once did it willingly when conceiving a devilish idea in "Parental Bonding"). Danny can transform any part of his body into ghost-mode while the rest stays human. This is evident when he makes his chin intangible to stop Dash from hitting him. ("Reign Storm").
- Transformation Shock/Aural Projection: He calls for a massive amount of spectral energy, sending out a wave of white light that repels any nearby enemy ghosts, sending them flying away from him. He first used this ability in "My Brother's Keeper," forcing Spectra to release her grip on him. It takes the shape of his transformation rings but does not transform him. This may be an outward manifestation of his feelings. Danny can release any clutches from his enemy. However, this ability does not seem to always work. It was revealed that he cannot release himself from the rope that was formed by Ecto-Energy Constructions in "The Ultimate Enemy".
- Intangibility: Danny can turn his body intangible to pass through walls or other solid matter. This power was the hardest for Danny to control at first, often activating at embarrassing times such as causing his pants to fall down while he was asking a girl out. He can turn just a portion of his body intangible as well, and he can also turn other people or objects intangible when in contact with them. Humans may experience a slight tingling sensation when turned intangible. as in "The Million Dollar Ghost" when he phases his dad, Jack stated his stomach felt funny. Danny one retrieves his spork from inside of his stomach by using his intangibility.
- Invisibility: Danny can make his body invisible to both humans and ghosts, Danny cannot be seen by human eyes or scanning devices. It is quite common for Danny to make only a part of his body invisible. Danny can make other people and objects invisible to him provided that he is in physical contact with them.
- Flight: Gravity does not affect Danny's ghost form,[18] so he can fly through air and space at considerable speeds and heights, and walk on vertical surfaces. While flying, his legs often become a ghostly tail. His top speed was measured to be 112 mph in an early episode,[19] and he almost certainly has gotten faster since then, as he flew from Amity Park to Minnesota in one night and flew around the world in Phantom Planet. Twice, Danny has been seen flying through space as in Flirting With Disaster, Danny used the X-23 Booster Rocket to launch himself into space to stop Technus. In Phantom Planet, while battling Vlad in space for the In-fi Map it revealed he can fly through space even without the Booster rocket.
- Wall Walking: Twice Danny has walked on walls by manipulating his center of gravity to walk and run up and down uneven and vertical surfaces as though they were horizontal. This either because of his ability to fly by defy gravity or of some unexplored ability to adhere/combine/interact to/with the molecular structure of the surface of walls.
- Back Slide: This allows him to zip along a surface in one direction without moving his legs. He saw a possessed Paulina to perform this ability in Public Enemies; he first used this ability in Lucky in Love.
- Ecto-Energy Manipulation : Danny can manipulate his innate ecto-energy in various ways.
- Ghost Ray: Danny can fire green laser-like blasts of ecto-energy from his hands or fingertips, but it can also be fired from seemingly anywhere, including his butt. Whereas it's often fired as a single blast or a streaming beam of energy, but he can also fire multiple blasts at once by waving his hand. These blasts often explode on contact and are powerful enough to melt steel. Danny also concentrates his ecto-energy into super-charged attacks (in Kinder Spirits) or spheres of different sizes (from small ones to large ones) before firing them at his opponents. During his first battle with Nocturn, he blasted an energy wave to protect himself from Nocturn's attack. In "Claw of the Wild", he is seen shooting explosive energy rings. While in an Ecto-Skeleton, his ghost rays turn blue. At his peak, Danny can single-handed or two-handedly fire a powerful ghost ray that can tear apart any weak ghost molecule by molecule and destroy the area nearby as seen when used on one of his clones and Nocturn's Sleepwalkers. This power has other variants and/or can be fired like:
- Repulsion Field: A unique power that only Danny possesses, he can send out a pulse of energy in all directions from his body to repel large groups of attackers. Danny uses this power every time he is surrounded by too many enemies at once. This is one of the many powers he has developed that Vlad hasn't.
- Energy Strike: Danny can channel ecto-energy through his fists to enhance the strength of his physical attacks. He only did this when he fought Tucker Phantom. He can also concentrate his natural ecto-energy in his hands, which allows him to cut through objects as hard as steel like he does when fighting Undergrowth and Nocturn.
- Ecto-Energy Constructs: Danny can create constructs made out of solid ecto-energy in a variety of forms, including concentrated ecto-energy balls, waves (in Frightmare), explosive rings (in Claw of the Wild), and explosive discs (In Reality Trip and Boxed Up fury) which he used twice to draw a happy face on Freakshow's hat and while fighting a ten-headed Hydra dragon. He seemed to have learned it after seeing Vlad performing it.
- Ghost Shield: Danny can generate shields made of solid ecto-energy that can nullify or even reflect attacks from other ghosts. Like his ghost rays, Danny's shields are green in color. His shield can withstand blasts from powerful ghosts like Vlad, Dani, and Vortex. Performing a gesture with his hands, He can create a planar shield with the ability to reflect any energy attack back to its user. He first made a dome shield after seeing Vlad make one and first used a reflective shield in "Teacher of the Year". While in the Ecto-Skeleton, his ghost shields turn blue and can also block physical attacks as shown during his battle with Pariah Dark.
- Power Absorption: Danny can absorb an opponent's powers in order to increase his own ghost powers. Through his ghost shield, he absorbed Vortex's powers to control the weather, but it was linked to his emotions. This power was only given to him briefly. Since then, Danny has not been seen absorbing any other form of power from another ghost. It is possible that Danny may have some sort-of ability that allows him to absorb ecto-energy that is entirely foreign to him and utilize it himself, as he did with Freakshow (but with the Reality Gauntlet), though Vlad stated it was through his ghost shield.
He first made a dome shield after seeing Vlad make one and first used a reflective shield in "Teacher of the Year". While in the Ecto-Skeleton, his ghost shields turn blue and can also block physical attacks as shown during his battle with Pariah Dark.
- Energy Absorption: Danny can absorb his opponent's ghost ray and redirect back at his attackers or use it to increase his physical strength. He used this several times in different methods with different abilities like in "Public Enemies" to redirect Bullet's electric weapon back at him with his Ghost Stinger, he absorbs Freakshow's energy net in "Reality Trip", and later intently absorb all the ghost rays from multiple ghosts firing at him in "Phantom Planet" thus restoring his ghost powers. Danny can absorb his opponent's ghost ray and redirect back at his attackers or use it to increase his physical strength. He also used this ability with his ghost shield to absorb Vortex's lightning bolt (granting himself the former's weather controlling powers in the process).
- Power Augmentation: Danny can use his ecto-energy to increase his physical strength. When holding back the Fright Knight's sword with his hands, he was able to garner enough strength to fling the knight over his shoulder. When he does this, his aura (which is white or green) starts glowing brighter. He also used this power when he was trapped in an ectoplasmic goo web in the episode "Doctor's Disorders". In "Reality Trip", he used this ability to escape the web Freakshow's drum-spider fired at him. In "Torrent of Terror", he used this power to escape Vortex's snowball.
- Electrokinesis: Although Danny doesn’t use this lot throughout the series, in the first episode Danny uses this power to charge the Fenton Thermos, and later used it to fuse himself with a video game with his own avatar in a video game. He often sends this as a Ghost Stinger where he sends his own electric current through an electric line and used his electric powers more wildly while being shocked himself.
- Ghost Stinger: An attack that utilizes ecto-energy in an electric form. This was first used in "Public Enemies", where Danny uses it to free Wulf from Bullet's weapon and defeating Bullet and in “Flirting with Disaster” to knock out Valerie. Danny can send ecto-energy as electricity through an electric current, negating his enemies' electric attacks and sending them back at the attacker.[13] It is possible that he actually redirects or manipulates the electricity with his hands since he has only used it when his enemy uses an electric attack. So, this may imply that he actually redirects the electricity with his hands. Danny's ghost stinger seemed to be strong enough to make Bullet evaporate but it assuming that lateral teleported away instead.
- Photokinesis: Danny can project light from his hand using ecto-energy when he and Dash Baxter go into a dark mouse hole in the wall of Fenton Works in "Micro-Management". In "Double Cross My Heart", he created a Flashing ecto-energy ball that explodes in front of The Guys in White, releasing a great amount of light in order to distract and blind his enemies. In "Urban Jungle", Danny generates light with his hand when he goes into the dark Fenton Works' lab. In "Claw of the Wild", Danny generates light with his hand when he, Sam, and Tucker go out into the woods at night to look for Nathan. He uses this power again later before he is confronted by Walker's goons.
- Ghostly Wail: Danny's most powerful ability is to generate an extremely powerful sonic blast of pure ecto-energy from his mouth that can destroy buildings and cause severe damage to both humans and ghosts alike and finish ghost who are too weak to withstand it. It is also effective against multiple targets, or against a very powerful enemy, and almost nothing can withstand this attack. It appeared to finish off all of his enemies in "The Ultimate Enemy". While he is capable of defeating almost any foe with this power, he only uses it as a last resort because it drains his energy extremely quickly, often forcing him to revert to his powerless human form after just one use. Although, he seems to have become powerful enough to overcome this in "Phantom Planet", though he was in the Ghost Zone at the time so he may have just been more powerful as a result then. After Danny uses his ghostly wail for the first time, his hair only changes back (though this may have been because of the Time Medallion or because it was his first time using it, so it was not as powerful and didn't drain him as much, therefore causing him to only partially revert back).
- Cryokinesis: Danny can fire blasts of icy energy from his hands or eyes that can freeze enemies on by touching them on contact from the inside out, radiate cold energy from his body, and create ice tools and weapons from thin air. He can generate a snowball that freezes everything it hits instantly. This ability also gives him an increased resistance to low and high temperatures. When using this power, his eyes turn icy blue instead of their usual glowing green. Danny can combine cryokinesis with his other powers for enhanced effects, like firing an explosive ice blast or generates a Ghost shield made of ice to protect himself from fire attacks. Danny learned this power in "Urban Jungle" and used it from then on to "Phantom Planet."
- Ghost Sense: When Danny is near other ghosts, a blue mist comes out of his mouth and a chill goes down his spine. In "Urban Jungle," it was revealed that this was a manifestation of his then-untapped potential to use cryokinesis. This ability is also Danny's very first ghost power he received in the series. It's not clear whether Danny is also able to detect half-ghosts; it worked to detect Tucker Phantom, but not for Dani or Vlad in either human or ghost forms.
- Explosive Snowball: Danny can combine his ghost rays with cryokinesis to launch an explosive ecto-charged snowball. He used this move to finish off Undergrowth in "Urban Jungle".
- Pyrokinesis: Danny can generate and throw balls of ectoplasmic fire.[20] Danny is able to manipulate his ghost rays to have several effects as his ghost rays made things hot with it's melting abilities as in "Reign Storm" his ghost rays melted Dash's shoes without knocking him over and in "The Fright Before Christmas", Danny's ghost rays melted the pieces of paper of the Ghost Writer's book.
- Aerokinesis (possibly): In Identity Crisis, when Danny split himself into Super Danny and Fun Danny, Super Danny's hair and cape constantly wave as if there was the wind, even when there's no wind at all. It is possible Super Danny was manipulating the wind; or it could have simply been shown this way for comedic effect.
- Telekinesis: Danny can surround objects with his ecto-energy to make them move from a distance. Inexplicably, Danny has only been seen using this power once, to give a rake to the Box Ghost,[21] and it is never seen nor mentioned outside of its one appearance. However, he did a semi-effect of telekinesis in "Prisoners of Love" when he used it with his ghost rays to clean up the lab, then in "Maternal Instinct" when he uses intangibility to sink Tucker into the ground without having to physically touch Tucker, and then in "Phantom Planet" with the other ghosts to turn the whole world intangible. In "The Fright Before Christmas", while under the Ghost Writer's reality warping powers he unconsciously took all the presents (which all glowed with a white aura, glowing brighter). Later in the same episode, he also used this power to fix the damaged gifts while Desiree uses her power to fix the damaged trees.
- Chronokinesis: Wearing a time medallion allows Danny to manipulate time just like Clockwork but on a small scale.
- Time Travel: While wearing a time medallion, Danny can move through time and space into the past or future.
- Chronolock: While wearing a time medallion, Danny is unaffected by changes in time, including those caused by Clockwork's powers.
- The Void: He can pull all light into himself while reversing his ectoplasmic energy, causing ultimate darkness to fill the room. He would be the only one who could see in this darkness.[22]
- X-Ray Vision (limited to self): In "Memory Blank", after Danny became half-ghost again, he was able to see his own bones after coming out of the Fenton Portal.
- Weather Control (briefly): After Danny's first fight with Vortex in "Torrent of Terror", he gained some of Vortex's power, allowing him to control the weather. This power was linked to Danny's emotional state, with him creating calm weather when he was calm or stormy weather when he was angry with effects like strong air/wind, rain, snow, hail, lightning, fog and temperature changes (ice and heat). Although his powers were on a smaller range and seemed to end just outside Amity Park. He caused great problems, as described by Vlad: "Your anger could cause cyclones, your sadness monsoons." When he had them, he caused a spike in the heat so strong that it set off the sprinklers of the building he was in, make tornadoes, electric storms, and massive hurricane winds while angry, a tropical rain while sad, and make it sunny while happy. Danny lost this power during his second fight with Vortex.
- Overshadowing: Danny can possess the mind and body of a person, object, or animal, allowing him to completely control his or her actions. While overshadowing, Danny can still use his powers of flight, intangibility, invisibility, and ghost rays. The subject has no memory of what he or she did while being overshadowed, but their thoughts and actions immediately after the overshadowing has ended can be affected by what Danny made them do. He can also overshadow another half-ghost, as seen when he overshadows Vlad's duplicate in "Eye for an Eye". Danny can't overshadow a person or a ghost if he isn't fully concentrated, or if he's taken out of the overshadowed by anti-ghost gadgets. He also can't overshadow someone (like Tucker Phantom) with enough willpower to stop him.
- Voice Manipulation: When Danny is overshadowing someone, he can disguise his voice. He used this only once, when he intimidated Dash and overshadowed him. On all other times when Danny overshadowed someone, the subject's voice didn't change; it is not confirmed whether this happened in-universe or was simply so that the audience knew it was still Danny. Like other users of this power, Danny can be marked by an effect, such as having the victims' eyes glow green, as his does in ghost form.
- Software Fusion: With the Fenton Helmet, Danny can introduce himself into computer software and overshadow his video game avatar to use his ghost powers in video games and combine his avatar's powers with his ghost powers. He can also change the appearance of his avatar. It is possible that he has the potential to use technopathy, as Dark Danny managed to hijack Future Valerie's communicator even though she was inside a ghost shield, and he was outside of it. This could have also been an extension of Danny's overshadowing power, or it may have been a new power that he gained through the use of the Fenton Helmet.
- Exorcism: Danny can separate a possessed person from a ghost overshadowing them simply by grabbing them with his hand or using a ghost ray. He separated Paulina using a ghost ray; he can do this by overshadowing the person, although he didn't use it with Tucker due to his power.
- Dream Invasion: Danny can overshadow a sleeping subject in order to get inside and influence his or her dreams. He used this power to wake up his hypnotized friends in "Frightmare".
- Fusion: When his ghost half is separated from his human half, Danny's ghost half can remerge with his human half by overshadowing to become one again. When this power is activated it allows him to simultaneously merge with another ghost at once, giving him access to their powers. To activate this, Danny must overshadow the ghost whom he wishes to combine with. Fusing with another ghost requires Danny to have the physical and mental resilience to handle the strain. It also comes with great risk, as the other ghost user could potentially overwhelm him. This was how Dark Danny was created when he attempts this ability on Vlad's ghost half in "The Ultimate Enemy". In "Identity Crisis", Super Danny attempted to fuse with Fun Danny, but it failed, and he ended up overshadowing him instead.
- Power Granting: Whenever Danny overshadows a person or possibly another ghost, he can give the victim his ghost powers, as he did with Valerie in "Life Lessons" allowing her to fly out of the Ghost Zone. He also did this to a dream world Dash Baxter in "Frightmare" allowing him to become Dash Phantom, but this was likely in a dream.
- Duplication: Danny can create duplicates of himself that all have his ghost powers and can fight alongside him. After seeing Vlad use this power during their first encounter, Danny spends much of the series trying to learn to use it himself, but he manages to create just extra limbs. He had managed to properly use it in the episode "Beauty Marked" when he easily split himself in two (though just for a second) while fighting the Executioner Ghost and finally mastering it unaided in "Torrent of Terror". If his clones are hit together with enough force, they merge back into each other. This possibly means that even then, he cannot properly hold it, showing he has yet to master this power, though he did pull it off with the Ecto-Skeleton. By his college years, Danny appears to have mastered this power.
- Spectral Body Manipulation: Danny can bend, twist, split, and otherwise contort his ghost body beyond the limits of normal human physiology. He uses this ability mostly to dodge oncoming attacks. He first used this ability in "Mystery Meat," when he attempts to dodge the Lunch Lady Ghost's assault. He can force his body to split in half along the midsection, the two halves remaining connected with a trail of spectral matter, or even separate his body in half without any connection for a few seconds. The first time he split like that was in the episode "Shades of Gray", when Sam throws a book at him, and later in the episode "Pirate Radio" when fighting Youngblood.
- Elasticity: Danny has the ability to stretch certain or all parts of his body in an elastic fashion. He used this when he was battling Freakshow in Reality Trip.
- Size Alteration: One of Danny's clones were able to alter their size, indicating Danny might also possess this ability.
- Ghost Tail: His lower body will turn into a tail of intangible matter when flying. He has been able to do this since he first learned how to fly, though it seems to largely be an unconscious action.
- Vacuum Resistance: Twice, Danny was in outer space without an astronaut/spacesuit and was unaffected by the vacuum, stardust, or cosmic radiation, though he still wore a helmet.[8][23] It assuming Danny doesn't have the ability of self-sustenance (unlike Vlad). But Danny might have possibly worn a space helmet in case he was ever reverted back to human form, so it possible he may be able to self-sustain to breathe in space or just wore it to make himself look like an astronaut.
- Underwater Breathing: Twice, Danny has been seen breathing and talking underwater.[24][25] It is possible that he does not need to breathe at all while in ghost form.
Abilities[]
- Quick Learning Ability: Danny is able to quickly learn new things, even often being able to copy many of the powers his enemies use against him without any training. However, there are other skills that he had a hard time mastering, such as Duplication took him almost a year to master until "Torrent of Terror" and yet his clones were not very strong at the time or because they were blown back together. Some good examples of this ability are:
- The first time Danny used a ghost shield was only hours after seeing Vlad use one, without any training on Danny's part.[17]
- In "One of a Kind", Danny quickly learned Sampson's body language.
- In "Lucky in Love", Danny learned to zip along a surface in one direction without moving his legs. He saw a possessed Paulina perform this ability in Public Enemies.
- In "Teacher of the Year", Danny got an "A-" on his literature test with just one night of study.
- In "The Ultimate Enemy", Danny learned Dark Danny's Ghostly Wail after only seeing it once.
- In "Kindred Spirits", Danny had expelled one of his clones out of his own body but it took a while. He may have learned this after Tucker Phantom expelled him out of his body.
- In "Urban Jungle", Danny learned to use his Cryokinesis in just one day, with training from Frostbite.
- Indomitable Will: It should also be noted that he as a human or as a ghost has a very strong will as he is able to resist Freakshow's control over him. He is always helping people and he is willing to die for the people he cares about. During his battle with Pariah Dark, he was determined to not let him take over the world and he holds his own while only powered up by 4% of power and he still was able to lock Pariah in the Sarcophagus with Vlad's last-minute arrival defeated Pariah. His determination allows him to fight on, even if the odds are on a stake and the chances of winning are almost none. An even bigger example was during his battle against Dark Danny.
- Mind Control Resistance/Overshadowing Immunity: Danny managed to break out of Freakshow's mind control to save Sam. After being freed he knew immediately that he done some very bad things. Danny was also able to resist being overshadowed to go ghost when one of his clones overshadowed him. He may inherit this from his father who is able to resist being overshadowed when doing things against his will and briefly immune to Undergrowth's mind control.
- Experienced Driver & Pilot: Danny is a considerably a skilled driver for his young age. He manage to drive the Fenton Family Ghost Assault Vehicle in "Bitter Reunions" despite not having a driver license. Danny is also a skilled pilot, having much experience with the Specter Speeder as well as with spaceship simulator video games. In "Reality Trip", he was able to save a NASA shuttle from crash-landing due to his "training" with spaceship simulators.[26]
- Skilled Tactician/Strategist: Danny is an excellent strategist, despite his relatively young age. In "Pirate Radio," he demonstrated the ability to formulate relatively complex plans of actions to infiltrate Youngblood's pirate ship, with all his schoolmates, to save their parents from Ember and Youngblood. He is also very good at improvisation, as he often manages to think of a plan that fits with the changing needs of a situation.
- Experienced Combatant: Although he has no formal training in hand-to-hand combat, Danny's powers enable him to execute punches and kicks with superhuman force against his opponents. His career as a superhero and ghost hunter has given him plenty of combat experience. Even without powers, Danny has proven that he's still a capable fighter, due to him being able to fight on par and even defeat some Pirate Ghosts, aboard Youngblood's ship. It's quite likely that Danny inherited his fighting skill from his parents, Jack (who is an excellent brawler, beating Plasmius in combat) and Maddie (who's a ninth-degree black belt and extremely skilled marksman).
- Swordsmanship: Despite not having any formal training, Danny demonstrates some ability with a sword when fighting Vlad who had a laser sword in "Infinite Realms". It was hinted that Danny was skilled with a sword as shown in Fright Night when Danny was about to fight an army of skeletons with the mystical broadsword the Soul Shredder. Danny even handled himself quite well against Youngblood in a sword duel, with a piece of Ember's guitar in "Pirate Radio". He first demonstrated this in Fanning the Flames when he fought Ember with a microphone stick.
- Marksmanship: Danny has shown to have incredible accuracy, this is normally used when he fires his ghost rays or using his parents' weapons. He once shot Medusa with his eyes close.
- Weapons Mastery: Despite not being formally trained, Danny has some mastery in the use of high-tech gadgets, mystical, or even ordinary weapons such a sword (like katanas or broadswords), polearms (like scythes or staffs), gauntlets, etc. despite normally using his own fists. His extensive training and resourcefulness also make him very good at improvising weapons out of anything. He occasionally uses his parents' high-tech weaponry to aid him in battle and can use them with his resourcefulness, as while in his human form he used a Fenton skateboard and a Fenton rod-like device to battle Ghost Pirates before splitting the staff into two separate long sticks for dual combat.
- Fenton Weaponry Expertise: Danny can operate his parents' ghost-hunting technology with great expertise, at times even better than his parents.
- Leadership Skills: On several occasions, Danny has demonstrated remarkable skills as a natural leader and speaker. He can easily garner respect and inspire others, such as when he rallies his classmates to save their parents from Ember and Youngblood, or to stage a protest to save the Nasty Burger from Vlad.
- Multilingual Skill: Like Sam, Danny learns how to speak Esperanto from Tucker, in case he meets with Wulf again.
Weaknesses[]
- Anti-Ghost Weaponry: In ghost form, Danny is vulnerable (like all ghost) to getting hurt/injured from all anti-ghost devices, made by, including Fenton Works weapons, Vladco gadgets, and the Guys in White's weaponry. Being a half-ghost, he is still vulnerable to some in his human form, but some anti-ghost devices, such as the Specter Deflector, can affect him even while in human form. Some knock him unconscious, leading them to revert back to his human form. Others just limit his abilities or remove them. Over the course of the series, he has been de-powered by several gadgets designed to neutralize his ghost energy, such as the Spectral Energy Neutralizer and the Plasmius Maximus. Undergrowth's plants can also absorb his ghost energy, weakening his powers.
- Overshadowing Susceptibility: Due to being half-human Danny is capable of being overshadowed by other ghostly entities, though this has rarely happened. After being overshadowed by Poindexter, the weaker ghost was able. to completely switch their bodies and powers. Danny was also partly overshadowed by a clone of himself created by Vlad. However, due to his strong will he is able to resist overshadowing (see abilities for more details).
- Blood Blossoms: They are blood-red flowers with anti-supernatural properties. They were used in the 1600s as a primitive ghost trap. They were only shown in the episode "Infinite Realms" when Jack Fenton's ancestor used them against Danny. While in the presence of Blood Blossoms, Danny is rendered powerless and suffers extreme physical agony to the point where he can only scream in pain, long term exposure to it will result in death. Vlad, in human form, was able to stand near Blood Blossoms unharmed, so it may be possible for Danny to build a tolerance to Blood Blossoms and do so as well. Blood Blossoms possibly don't exist in the 20th century, so this weakness currently doesn't affect Danny.
- Ecto-Ranium: Danny is extremely vulnerable to ecto-ranium, as all ghosts are. They appeared in the final episode of the series "Phantom Planet", it is a unique anti-ghost element found in outer space, and its effects can only be felt by ghosts. When Vlad attempted to turn a meteor made entirely of it, he felt extreme pain.
- Infrared Vision: When invisible, Danny can still be seen in infrared, as he still radiates heat.
- Special Gas: In "Doctor's Disorders", Danny was knocked out by a tank of what appears to be sleeping/knockout gas. Although, it likely that the gas wasn't regular gas and was more weaponized for ghost.
- Crystal Ball Staff: Due to his hybrid nature, whether in human or ghost form, Danny ends up being controlled by looking at Freakshow's Crystal Ball Staff. Even if he isn't near the Staff, he could still be controlled if the Staff is on a billboard or a screen. Following the destruction of the crystal, it no longer applies to Danny.
Equipment[]
See List of Fenton Works Gadgets
Danny has used an astral of his parent's Anti-ghost weapons and even a few from Vladco. Danny has also briefly used objects like the Time Medallion or even the Reality Gauntlet.
- Fenton Specter Deflector: This is a belt that repels and weakens any ghost that comes in direct contact with the wearer. It can also be put on a half-ghost to disable their powers. Danny uses it both offensively and defensively.
- Fenton Thermos: Danny's primary weapon is a device that traps ghosts by sucking them into it. It has the appearance of a thermos. Danny uses this device to capture ghosts in the human world and release them back to the Ghost Zone. He once used the thermos to remove Technus from his battlesuit. When the Reverse Polarity setting is set, it can also be used to close/seal ghost portals leading between Earth and the Ghost Zone and preventing any ghost monster from getting out.
- Ecto-Skeleton: This is a mechanized battle suit that increases its wearer's abilities by 100 times. It is controlled via a neural interface which causes great strain on the wearer. When Danny used it in his ghost form, he was able to transfer his powers to the suit and used it in the final battle against Pariah Dark to defeat him once and for all. Later on, it was stolen by Vlad, who fixed its neural interface, but Danny and Jazz activated its self-destruct mechanism to destroy it and preventing Vlad from using the upgrade Ecto-Skeleton.
- Specter Speeder: This Fenton Works vehicle is designed for travel in the Ghost Zone. It is able to convert to an amphibious mode for underwater travel, as well as fly in the air.
- Infi-Map: Danny used the Infi-map after he stole it back from Vlad. It is unknown whether Danny kept it or gave it back to the Far Frozen.
- Time Medallion (briefly): Danny briefly used the medallion to be immune to Clockwork's powers. After Dark Danny fused it into him, he was unable to get it out until Vlad helps him. Clockwork later put another one on him. It unknown if Clockwork had let him keep that medallion because he was able to travel through time without it.
- Reality Gauntlet (briefly): Danny briefly uses the gauntlet to undo Freakshow's work, erase everyone's memories, and turned Lydia into multiple objects. While turning Freakshow in, Danny used the gauntlet to turn Freakshow human again. After he destroyed the gauntlet, so it won't fall into the wrong hands again and he no longer had any of its abilities.
- X-23 Booster Rocket (briefly): In "Flirting With Disaster" Danny takes the jetpack and uses it to launch himself into space in pursuit of Technus, who has taken over the Cybertron Mega Computer's processing unit. To defeat Technus, Danny overloads the jetpack's power and lets it fly straight into Technus's mouth, causing the satellite to explode. At the beginning of "Phantom Planet", Danny wore the space helmet of the booster rocket while battling Vlad for the Infi-map in space. The helmet was originally white with green marking on it with a clear visor to see through it, and two grey tubes along the jaw. The helmet later painted grey in Phantom Planet.
- Doomed Avatar Battlesuit (briefly): When Technus invaded the online world of the "Doomed" video game, he took it upon himself to overshadow his game avatar, combining his superpowers with the numerous powerups of the virtual world.
- Plasmius Maximus (briefly): With the Plasmius Maximus, Danny is able to nullify spectral energies, completely canceling a ghost's powers. Its effects only last for three hours. Danny uses the Plasmius Maximus on Vlad, which takes away his ghost powers, and Danny sends his pets after him much like Vlad did earlier to Danny. It unknown what happens to this device afterward. But it is possible Danny keep it.

The College Years[]
Danny's outfit has changed a bit, to fit with both his age and fashion trends at the time. He still wears his t-shirt, but now wears a hoodie on top of it. The hoodie has the same style and red icon in the middle of it.
After the world learned that Danny Fenton is Danny Phantom, he became a worldwide celebrity. He's chased by fans, paparazzi trying to get pictures and reporters publicizing his every move. Danny is forced into the life of a rock star, but he doesn't want to live like that. He no longer has any privacy in his life, and he struggles to maintain any normalcy in his life.
At some point, either during or after attending college, Danny moves into his own lair in the Ghost Zone. A simple loft that he uses to get away from the overwhelming human realm, where he and Sam can finally have some peace and quiet. At some point, he might even move into his Ghost Zone apartment.
Not only does the fame affect his day-to-day life, but it has long term consequences. He has trouble connecting to people, partially due to the fact that the people he tries to interact with are swarms of fans, critics, reporters, etc. Hartman mused that he might become similar to Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen. This analogy is reinforced in the fact that Danny takes up residence far away from humanity, in his loft in the Ghost Zone.
This inability to connect to people pushes him to want to live a more solitary life. This becomes a major problem for Danny in trying to maintain a balance between his human-half and his ghost-half. His human-half wants to be with people; but as mentioned above, he cannot connect; with anymore. His ghost-half wants to be alone, and as it starts taking over more and more, Danny leans towards being alone more. A future story arc could center around Danny trying to maintain his humanity and keep his ghost side from fully taking over.
10 Years Later[]
Version 1
The first iteration of Danny aged up 10 years has him in a different outfit with a thermos on his hip. The idea behind this first version is that, over the years, he has been experimenting with different and armor and so his outfit has changed along with the armor and other changes.
Version 2
The inspiration for this version came from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the drawing being a hypothetical character design if Danny was in the MCU. Captain America and Ant-Man were an inspiration for this outfit. He's 25 years old in this iteration, and his outfit is a sleeker, updated, armored version.
Version 3
This version includes elements of Dark Danny as, by this time in his life, Danny has started to embrace his ghost side more and more. Two key features in this are his long hair and the belt, which is an homage to the original concept art for Danny Phantom.
Version 4
At this point in time (in the Danny Phantom universe), the Fenton Thermos became too cumbersome. The thermos has been replaced by a glove (Fenton Glove) that acts as the Fenton Thermos as well as powering his suit. This technology was used by the Masters Blasters in Phantom Planet, although their technology did not provide them with any additional energy. The green glowing throughout his suit reflects the power gained when a ghost goes into the Fenton Glove. The long hair is similar to that of Dark Danny.
A few other designs do not have any specific background; but are still part of the 10 years later concept.

Cameos in other media[]
- In the television series "The Fairly OddParents!" (also by Butch Hartman), in the episode "Poltergeeks," Danny Phantom can be seen on one of the TV screens in the ghost lab, in the upper-left corner, with the word "WANTED" written underneath him.
- In the television series MAD, in the episode "Extreme Renovation: House Edition", figures resembling Danny Phantom and Casper the Friendly Ghost can be seen floating inside Superman's new closet.
- In an issue of the Snafu comic The Grim Tales, Danny is seen in Grimm's flashback working at Nasty Burger and once again when Clockwork brings up young Danny to Dan.
- Danny appeared in a promo for the show Bunsen Is a Beast, also created by Butch Hartman. Also appearing in the promo are characters from another Hartman shows, Fairly OddParents and TUFF Puppy.
- Danny appears in two videos created by Death Battle, a popular YouTube channel known for taking and analyzing characters from different franchises and having them fight to the death. In the 128th episode, Danny fought Jake Long from Disney's American Dragon: Jake Long series, and in the 83rd episode of Death Battle's spinoff series, DBX, he fought Ben Tennyson from Cartoon Network's Ben 10 series.
Trivia[]
- Danny's original character design was much different from the final version:
- Creator Butch Hartman originally wanted to name Danny "Jackie," after the actor Jackie Chan.[27] Some other alternative first names were "Billy," "Kenny" and "Davie."[28]
- Danny was originally going to be fully human; he and his friends would have used gadgets to fight ghosts, and he would have ridden a motorcycle (referencing the Marvel superhero Ghost Rider). Later, Hartman decided it would be cooler if the main character had superpowers, and as part of this change, Danny ended up not getting a motorcycle.[27]
- Danny eventually did ride a motorcycle in "Livin' Large," possibly as an homage to this original idea.
- Danny was originally going to have a pet owl named "Spooky." However, the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, which also featured a title character with a pet owl, was released right as production started, so the pet owl idea was dropped.[28]
- Danny was originally going to have a psychic link with Sam. Hartman dropped this idea because it made the relationship between Danny and Sam seem too developed for a show that was just starting.[28]
- Danny was originally going to have blond hair in human form. It was likely changed to black to differentiate him from Dash Baxter and to better contrast against his ghost form's white hair.
- Creator Butch Hartman originally wanted a 14-year-old boy for the role of Danny. but he couldn't find anybody with a heroic enough voice.
- Danny is a certificated junior astronaut.[29]
- Danny shares similarities to Marvel comic book hero Spider-Man and was likely influenced; by him.[28]
- Like Spider-Man, he was an unpopular bullied teenager in high school; who got super-powers in a lab accident; he was first seen as a menace despite how many villains he fought; he frequently makes witty banter with most of his enemies during their battles (and sometimes outside of battles); he at first sometimes had the desire to use his powers to get revenge on bullies; and as he began to mature, he became more responsible of his duties as a superhero.
- Danny's powers seem to be strongly connected to his feelings, especially negative emotions such as fear or rage. It was fear that triggered his ghost ray when Desiree approached him and rage that gave him his Ghostly Wail in "The Ultimate Enemy." This could also explain why Danny's emotions were so closely connected with his Atmokinesis while he temporarily had them.
- It was shown several times, that Danny seemly has the ability to vanish and instantly reappear in another place nearby.[30][26] Although unconfirmed, it is suggested that this could possibly be teleportation or his could simply be him moving while invisible, though this is atypical for the show's animation, as the audience is normally able to see him while he is invisible. Danny has used this during his battle with Tucker Phantom and reality warping Freakshow. Danny used this a third time in "Secret Weapons" when he was hiding from Jazz. Later on, Danny used this power after turning invisible to escape Jack Plasmius in "Masters of All Time."
